TALKING TURKEYS

The second project displayed is a brief set by Penguin, to redesign Benjamin Zephaniah’s “Talking Turkeys”. Through this playful brief, I combined my graphic and illustrative skills to produce a front cover that attracts both children and parents alike. After researching and developing many ideas, I found the hand-painted ‘perfect’ Christmas dinner to best reflect the playful poems. I decided to use ‘greens’ and vegetables as a central part of the illustration to reflect the reoccurring theme of veganism humorously. I decided upon a playful font that reflects the rhythm and movement within the book.

TALKING TURKEYS

Mae'r ail brosiect sy'n rhan o'r arddangosfa yn dilyn briff a osodwyd gan Penguin, i ailddylunio "Talking Turkeys" gan Benjamin Zephaniah. Drwy'r briff chwareus hwn, cyfunais fy sgiliau graffig a'm sgiliau darlunio i greu clawr blaen sy'n denu plant a rhieni fel ei gilydd. Ar ôl ymchwilio a datblygu llawer o syniadau, darganfyddais y cinio Nadolig 'perffaith' wedi'i baentio â llaw er mwyn adlewyrchu'r cerddi chwareus yn y ffordd orau. Penderfynais ddefnyddio llysiau gwyrdd (greens) a llysiau fel rhan ganolog o'r darlun er mwyn defnyddio hiwmor i adlewyrchu thema barhaus feganiaeth. Penderfynais ddefnyddio ffont chwareus sy'n adlewyrchu'r rhythm a'r symudiad a geir yn y llyfr.

FUTURE OF RETAIL

I would describe my graphic design style to be adventurous and adaptable, I like to combine my other artistic skills such as painting, illustration, and photography to create unique and suitable outcomes. In the 3 years, I have gained skills in XD, InDesign, aftereffects, Illustrator, design principles, and more.

Our way of shopping has changed, exacerbated by Covid-19 restrictions, leading to a boom in online sales in Europe, the US, and China. This project invited me to explore what the future of retail shopping could look like in 30 years. I designed a museum experience for this dystopian world, reflecting what shopping once was and the equivalent in this modern society. Within this project, I designed a souvenir magazine and map that would be sold in the dystopian gift shop. During this project, I used my graphic communication, illustration/painting, photoshop, and photography skills to show my version of the future of retail.

FUTURE OF RETAIL

Byddwn yn disgrifio fy arddull dylunio graffig fel arddull anturus y gellir ei haddasu. Rwy'n hoffi cyfuno fy sgiliau artistig eraill fel paentio, darlunio a ffotograffiaeth i greu canlyniadau unigryw ac addas. Yn ystod y tair blynedd, rwyf wedi meithrin sgiliau wrth ddefnyddio XD, InDesign, aftereffects, Illustrator, design principles, a mwy.

Mae ein ffordd o siopa wedi newid, ac mae cyfyngiadau COVID-19 wedi dylanwadu'n gynyddol ar y newid hwnnw, gan arwain at gynnydd eithriadol mewn gwerthiannau ar-lein yn Ewrop, yr UD a Tsieina. Rhoddodd y prosiect hwn gyfle i mi ystyried dyfodol siopa manwerthu ymhen 30 mlynedd. Dyluniais brofiad amgueddfa ar gyfer y byd dystopaidd hwn, gan adlewyrchu siopa fel ag yr oedd a'r fersiwn gyfatebol yn y gymdeithas fodern hon. Fel rhan o'r prosiect hwn, dyluniais gylchgrawn a map i'w cadw a fyddai'n cael eu gwerthu yn y siop rhoddion ddystopaidd. Yn ystod y prosiect hwn, defnyddiais fy sgiliau cyfathrebu graffic, darlunio/paentio, Photoshop a ffotograffiaeth i ddangos fy fersiwn o ddyfodol manwerthu.
