ICAN

My FMP project was inspired by my personal experience during the pandemic having cared for my grandparents. I had noticed that the older generation, an already isolated generation, had become even more lonely during the pandemic due to not being able to use technology to communicate. Many older people are scared of technology, lack ability to use it, or require support and assiatnce. I have therefore made an accessible app designed for an elderly user giving them step-by-step support to communicate. This will tackle lonliness, they can feel confident reaching out to friends and family at any time. I have also made a supporting administrative app where family can modify the app for the elderly user to suit their needs and provide first hand remote help.

ICAN

Cafodd fy Mhrosiect Mawr Terfynol ei ysbrydoli gan fy mhrofiad personol yn ystod y pandemig, wrth i mi ofalu am fy nhadcu a'm mamgu. Roeddwn wedi sylwi bod y genhedlaeth hŷn, sydd eisoes yn genhedlaeth ynysig, wedi dod yn fwy unig byth yn ystod y pandemig gan nad oedd yn gallu defnyddio technoleg i gyfathrebu. Mae gan lawer o bobl hŷn ofn technoleg, nid ydynt yn gallu ei defnyddio neu mae angen cefnogaeth a chymorth arnynt i'w defnyddio. Felly rwyf wedi creu ap hygyrch a ddyluniwyd ar gyfer defnyddwyr oedrannus, gan roi cymorth cam-wrth-gam iddynt gyfathrebu. Bydd hyn yn mynd i'r afael ag unigrwydd, gallant deimlo'n hyderus yn estyn allan i ffrindiau a theulu ar unrhyw adeg. Rwyf hefyd wedi creu ap gweinyddol ategol lle y gall y teulu addasu'r ap i'r defnyddiwr oedrannus er mwyn diwallu ei anghenion a rhoi help uniongyrchol o bell.

DUOLINGO, LET’S TALK

As part of the D&AD New Blood Awards, Duolingo has challenged us to open the eyes of young adults (16-22) to the world of languages, inspiring them to weave language learning into thier lives. When researching, one thing that really stood out to me was the connection between language and mental health. Learning languages helps cognitive development and can be a really positive distraction, especially for a younger audience. I have therefore used the concept of mental health, something even more prominent during the current pandemic, to encourage people to learn a language. Getting people talking in more than one language and therefore using the Duolingo app, could really make a difference, keep the mind active and give people a positive focus.

DUOLINGO, LET’S TALK

Fel rhan o Wobrau New Blood Dylunio a Chyfarwyddo Celf, mae Duolingo wedi ein herio i agor llygaid oedolion ifanc rhwng 16 a 22 oed i fyd ieithoedd, gan eu hysbrydoli i ddysgu iaith fel rhan o'u bywydau. Wrth ymchwilio, yr un peth a oedd yn sefyll allan i fi oedd y cysylltiad rhwng iaith ac iechyd meddwl. Mae dysgu ieithoedd yn hwyluso datblygiad gwybyddol a gall greu diddordeb cadarnhaol iawn, yn enwedig i gynulleidfa ifancach. Felly rwyf wedi defnyddio'r cysyniad o iechyd meddwl, rhywbeth a ddaeth yn hyd yn oed fwy amlwg yn ystod y pandemig presennol, i annog pobl i ddysgu iaith. Gall annog pobl i siarad mewn mwy nag un iaith ac felly ddefnyddio ap Duolingo wneud gwahaniaeth go iawn, gan gadw'r meddwl yn effro a rhoi ffocws cadarnhaol i bobl.
