PERIOD


I have a simplified, illustrative style of design and a relaxed attitude on life which I feel is represented in the pieces I am showing.

My first piece, the brief titled; menstrual empowerment, tackled issues around menstruation. Combating menstrual discrimination and shaming, encouraging pride in periods, educating, and raising understanding in the non-menstruating population.

I developed: Period.,

“because a period. is not just the end of a sentence, but the start of a conversation.”

Period. is a platform and brand through which the user can share their experiences with other menstruators, receiving and imparting valuable insight and understanding. As every period leaves a mark so to do the users experiences. Celebrating the individuality of every menstruation and menstruator, the user can create their own mark to leave on the digital canvas and attached to it is their experience. These marks start to form abstract patterns that are a visual representation of the menstruating community’s experiences and connections and can be transferred to any media, allowing for merchandise and products from stationary to wallpaper and clothes to represent and celebrate their period marks as, no longer “stains of shame” but symbols of power and community.

Mae gennyf arddull ddylunio syml a darluniadol ac agwedd hamddenol at fywyd, a gynrychiolir yn y darnau sy'n rhan o'r arddangosfa.

Aeth fy narn cyntaf, ar gyfer y briff 'menstrual empowerment', i'r afael â materion sy'n gysylltiedig â'r mislif. Ymdrin ag achosion o wahaniaethu o ganlyniad i'r mislif a chodi cywilydd, annog balchder yn y mislif, addysgu, a gwella dealltwriaeth ymhlith y boblogaeth nad ydynt yn cael mislif.

Mae Period. yn cynnig llwyfan a brand y gall y defnyddiwr eu defnyddio i rannu eu profiadau ag unigolion eraill mislifol, gan dderbyn a rhannu gwybodaeth a dealltwriaeth werthfawr. Fel y mae pob mislif yn gadael ei ôl, felly hefyd brofiadau'r defnyddwyr. Gan ddathlu unigoliaeth pob mislif ac unigolyn sy'n cael mislifo, gall y defnyddiwr greu ei ôl ei hun i'w adael ar y cynfas digidol a bydd ei brofiad wedi'i atodi ato. Mae'r olion hyn yn dechrau creu patrymau haniaethol sy'n cynnig cynrychiolaeth weledol o brofiadau a chysylltiadau'r gymuned sy'n cael mislif a gellir eu trosglwyddo i unrhyw gyfrwng, sy'n golygu y gellir creu nwyddau a chynhyrchion o ddeunydd papur i bapur wal a dillad i gynrychioli a dathlu olion eu mislif fel symbolau o bŵer a chymuned, yn hytrach na'r hen "staeniau cywilydd".








NO OTHER


My second piece addresses issues such as sexuality, gender, race, and society from a child’s perspective.

No Other, is a series of books containing stories, rhymes and activities that introduces new and different identities and issues to children to ease the difficulty of developing their identities in an expanding world of possibilities.

Cyfres o lyfrau yw 'No Other', sy'n cynnwys straeon, rhigymau a gweithgareddau sy'n cyflwyno hunaniaethau a materion newydd a gwahanol i blant i'w helpu i ddatblygu eu hunaniaethau mewn byd o bosibiliadau cynyddol.
